Privacy Policy

1. Who I am

This website is run by Emmanuel Riblet, PGA Professional, trading as Emmanuel Riblet Golf Coaching, based at Killeen Castle, Co. Meath, Ireland. For the purposes of data protection law (the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Irish Data Protection Acts 1988–2018), I am the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

2. What I collect

Information you give me

• Contact form: your name, email address and your message.
• Newsletter sign-up: your email address and name.
• Bookings and payments: your name, email address, phone number and the lessons or packages you book. Card payments are handled by the payment provider — I never see or store your full card details.
• Coaching: swing videos and photos you send me or that I record during a lesson, your handicap, scores and on-course statistics, launch monitor data (e.g. Trackman), notes on your goals and progress, and messages we exchange.
• Physical screening: if you take part in a TPI movement screen, information about your mobility and physical limitations — see section 4.

Information collected automatically

• Basic technical information your browser sends when you visit the site, such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, which the web host records in standard server logs.
• Anonymous visit statistics — which pages are viewed and which website you came from — counted on this website's own server without cookies. See section 9.
• Information collected by embedded content and cookies — see section 9.

3. How and why I use it

The law requires me to have a legal basis for each use of your information. Here is what I use it for, and on what basis:

I will not use images or videos of you for marketing — on this website, social media or YouTube — without asking you first.

4. Physical screening information

A TPI movement screen can reveal information about your physical health, such as injuries or mobility restrictions. The law treats health information as a special category that needs extra protection. I only collect it with your explicit consent, only use it to tailor your coaching, and never share it with anyone else unless you ask me to. You can withdraw your consent at any time — this won't affect coaching already given, but I may not be able to tailor exercises in the same way.

5. Junior golfers

I coach junior golfers. For anyone under 18, bookings are made by, and communication goes through, a parent or guardian, who gives any consent needed on the young person's behalf. Swing videos of juniors are only shared with the junior and their parent or guardian, and are never used for marketing without the parent or guardian's written permission.

This website and newsletter are not intended for children under 16 to use on their own.

6. Who I share it with

I don't sell your information. I share it only with the service providers I use to run my coaching business, who process it on my behalf and under contract:

I may also share information if required by law, or with my accountant for the financial records described above.

7. Transfers outside the EU

Some of the providers above are based in, or use servers in, the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by an approved legal mechanism — such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses — so that your information keeps an equivalent level of protection.

8. How long I keep it

• Enquiries that don't lead to coaching: up to 12 months.
• Coaching records (videos, data, notes): while you're an active student, and for up to 2 years after your last session so we can pick up where we left off. Ask me at any time and I'll delete them sooner.
• Physical screening information: deleted when you stop coaching, or sooner if you withdraw consent.
• Financial records: 6 years, as required by Irish tax law.
• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.

9. Cookies and embedded content

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site keeps them to a minimum:

• Essential cookies set by WordPress to make the site work and keep it secure. These don't need your consent.
• YouTube videos are embedded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and are only loaded after you accept them in the cookie banner; until then a placeholder is shown. Once you play a video, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
• Fonts: the fonts used on this site are hosted on this website's own server, so no information is sent to a font provider when a page loads.
• Your choices: the cookie banner lets you accept or deny non-essential cookies, and you can change your choice at any time. This site does not use advertising cookies. Visit statistics are counted anonymously on this website's own server (Koko Analytics), without cookies and without sharing data with any third party. Full details are in the Cookie Policy.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

10. Your rights

Under data protection law you have the right to:

• Access the personal information I hold about you and get a copy of it.
• Correct anything that's wrong or incomplete.
• Delete your information, where I no longer have a good reason to keep it.
• Restrict or object to how I use it, including for marketing.
• Receive your information in a portable format, such as your swing videos.
• Withdraw consent at any time, where I rely on consent.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie. I'd appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please contact me before you do.

11. Security

I take reasonable steps to protect your information, including using reputable providers with strong security, secure (HTTPS) connections on this website, and password-protected accounts. No system is completely secure, but if a breach ever puts your information at risk, I'll tell you and the Data Protection Commission as the law requires.

12. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy when my services or the tools I use change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If a change significantly affects how I use your information, I'll let current students know directly.
